Letters to the Editor
Sir, This has reference to the editorial, "The news about Al Jazeera" (Feb. 8). The experience of the channel suggests that it is becoming increasingly difficult for the media in West Asia to report facts as they are. First the despotic rulers of the region became antagonistic to the channel because of its resolve to expose them. It is now the turn of the U.S., which has always tried to stifle the channel post-9/11 because of its all-out effort to lay bare the democratic pretensions of the superpower. One can only hope the ownership of the channel will go to one who is courageous enough to call a spade, a spade.
V. Prasanna Kumar,
