Guidelines for renewal of family cards

COIMBATORE, FEB 10. The State Government has evolved a fresh set of guidelines for dealing with specific cases relating to requests for renewal of cancelled/deleted family cards and for those whose applications for a new family card had been rejected.

As many as 80,000 odd cards had been cancelled by the administration on various grounds which included failure to renew the card by availing inner sheets for the extended period of validity i.e., 2004-05, failure to remove the H seal and failure to use the card for months together.

Cardholders, who faced cancellation on these grounds, could approach the taluk supply office concerned, give a request letter and use the application form for renewal of their cards. These filled-in application forms should be handed over only to the taluk supply office concerned and cannot be accepted at any of the designated centres meant for receiving the applications issued through PDS outlets.

Similarly several genuine applicants, whose application forms for issue of new family cards were rejected by the administration during the scrutiny, could challenge it. They would have to give a letter to the taluk supply office contesting or challenging the grounds of rejection providing relevant details. These requests would be considered on the basis of merit and would be then considered for issue of cards at the earliest, sources in the District Supply office said. In the case of any difficulty or any further clarifications, the public could approach the District Supply Office at the Collectorate either in person or over phone at 2301114/5/6/7 or 2300569.
