Plea to service tax payers

COIMBATORE: The Chief Commissioner of Central Excise, Coimbatore Zone, J. M. K. Sekhar, has appealed to those liable to pay service tax in respect of transportation of goods by road to register before February 28. In a release he said that the Central Board of Excise and Customs was considering the extension of time for registration by persons who were required to register for payment of service tax in relation to the goods transport by road up to February 28. He had also issued directions to all the Central Excise field formations not to take any penal action for the delay in registration up to February 28 and to guide all the concerned to encourage voluntary compliance.
