NEW DELHI, FEB. 10. Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd. (SJVNL), a joint venture between the Centre and the Himachal Pradesh Government, has unveiled a fresh investment programme for taking up six more hydel power projects to achieve its target of creating a generating capacity of 5,000 MW by the end of the 11th Plan. Of the six projects, four are in Himachal Pradesh and two in neighbouring Uttaranchal. Plans are also afoot for taking up two more projects in Sikkim and Chattisgarh. Following the successful completion of the 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri hydel power project, the company, formerly known as Nathpa Jhakri Power Corporation Ltd., is confident of becoming a multi-unit hydel power outfit. Talking to a select group of newspersons here on Thursday, the Chairman and Managing Director, Y. N. Apparao, said the corporation had already commenced investigation and pre-implementation stage work on the four Himachal Pradesh projects. "The Rs. 2,000-crore investment will be funded in a debt-equity ratio of 70:30. We are also likely to maintain the existing equity stake arrangement of up to 76 per cent with the Centre and 24 per cent with the State,'' Mr. Apparao said.
