BELLARY, FEB. 10. Around 38 persons filed their nomination to contest the gram panchayat elections in Bellary district. The process of filing nomination papers began on Wednesday. February 16 is the last date for filing nomination papers. Scrutiny of the papers will be carried out on February 17 and the last day for withdrawing nominations is February 19. Polling will be held on February 27 according to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner, S.N. Jayaram. However, the notification does not apply to Seetaram Tanda Gram Panchayat in Hospet taluk. Elections will be held in 188 gram panchayats for 3,399 seats in seven taluks in the district. In Bellary, 31 people filed nominations; in Sirguppa, three; in Sandur and Hospet, one each; in Hagari Bommanahalli, two persons filed nominations. No nominations were filed in Kudligi and Hadagali taluks.
