Police register case against NLC Director

By Our Special Correspondent

CUDDALORE, FEB. 10. Consequent to a Madras High Court direction, the Neyveli police have registered a case against the Neyveli Lignite Corporation Director (Personnel), R. Narasimhan, under three counts.

The Superintendent of Police, S. Panneer Selvam, said a case had been registered on February 6 against Mr. Narasimhan under Sections 420 (cheating), 294 (abuse) and 506 (1) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

It is learnt that P. Sundaramoorthy, brother-in-law of the Nakkheeran Editor, Gopal, had filed a petition before the Madras High Court seeking directions to the Neyveli police to register his complaint against Mr. Narasimhan.

Mr. Sundaramoorthy had stated that his father, R.S. Pandian (who committed suicide later), a close friend of Mr. Narasimhan, paid a first instalment of Rs. 7.35 lakhs to the latter on the understanding that the Director would get jobs for six persons in NLC.

However, after a considerable lapse of time, the Director had neither repaid the money nor procured any job.
