Drug traffickers sentenced to 10-year term

CHENNAI,
FEB. 10.
Three persons arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in 2002 with 3.3 kg. of heroin were sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment by a special judge on Wednesday.
A press note issued by the NCB's south zonal unit said two Sri Lankans, Sellathurai Shanmugam (a Canadian citizen) and T. Mathuranayagam, and a Malaysian citizen, Nathasha Binti Shaharis, were arrested in 2002.
The heroin was seized from a false container in a suitcase. The trio have been found guilty under the Prevention of Illegal Trafficking and Narcotic Substances and Psychotopic Substances Act, 1985.
