Clear skies

CHENNAI, FEB. 10. There will be mainly clear skies on Friday, with the minimum temperature around 21 degrees Celsius. On Thursday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 31.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 21.2 degrees Celsius. At Meenambakkam, the corresponding temperatures were 31.5 degrees Celsius and 21.5 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels were 72 per cent and 79 per cent respectively.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended in Egmore, Mandaveli and Vallalar Nagar on Friday between 9 a.m and 5 p.m.

Seminar

`Ikebana' exhibition

ABK-AOTS Dosokai & Sogetsu Study Circle will jointly organise an `ikebana' exhibition on Saturday and Sunday (February 13) at 110, Nelson Manickam Road, Aminjikarai, between 10 a.m. and 6.30 p.m.

Drawing contest

Jawahar Nagar `Vasakar Vattam' organised a host of contests including story telling, drawing and recitation for school students in its library premises on February 7. The director of public libraries, P. Gunasekaran, distributed prizes to the winners.

`DD Shoppe'

The State Bank of Travancore (Chennai Main Branch) has opened a `DD Shoppe' from its United India Buildings premises at Esplanade. The shoppe will function from 3.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. on weekdays and 12.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. on Saturdays. DDs up to Rs. 50,000 will be available against payment of cash.

The Bank has also introduced new schemes for its current account holders.
