Anara's family approaches President, PM
NEW DELHI,
FEB. 10.
With the case against former Miss Jammu Anara Gupta getting murkier after a new forensic test reportedly found that the girl in a pornography CD was indeed Anara, her family today approached the President and the Prime Minister, seeking a CBI probe into the case. A memorandum was submitted to the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, seeking a CBI probe into the case, the girl's Delhi-based maternal uncle Sanjoy Sachdev said. A detailed 72-page representation signed by Anara's mother was also submitted, he said.
The memorandum of demands includes ordering protection by a Central police force for the members of Anara's family in Jammu and for Mr. Sachdev in Delhi as ``we have no faith in the Jammu and Kashmir police and we apprehend any mishappening at the hands of it and others.'' It also urged for registration of an FIR and arrest of the police officers concerned for ``illegal detention, torture, beating and harassment of five members of the family of the victim.'' PTI
