College union elections: The Vice-Chancellor, M.K. Ramachandran Nair, was appointed by the Syndicate on Wednesday to prepare the guidelines for conducting college union elections as per the court order.

Ph.D.: The Syndicate has decided to confer Ph.D. on the following faculty members: K. Jayakumar (physical education), P. Unnikrishnan (environmental science), Rajan Idikkula (chemistry), Venkitaraman (biotechnology), James Alexander (mathematics), and Raveendran M (commerce).

Contact classes: Contact classes will be held for students of first year BA sociology (Institute of Distance Education) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Karyavattom on February 14. Those for the first year BA English programme will be held at the Institute of Distance Education, Karyavattom, on February 12 and 13.

Results: The first year MA Sociology (Institute of Distance Education) internal marks have been published. Complaints will be received till February 15.

Postponed: The first semester LLB (3 years) Paper-III `Law of crimes' and fifth semester LLB (5 years) examinations have been postponed to February 28. The examinations will be held from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

MBA: Applications for the third MBA (1998/2000 scheme) beginning March 7 can be submitted without fine till February 16, with a fine of Rs. 50 till February 18 and with a fine of Rs. 250, till February 22.

Seminar: A seminar on married life will be held at the Government College for Women on February 15. The seminar is being organised by the university health centre.

Date extended: Applications for admission to the certificate course in Psychiatric Social Work offered by the Centre for Adult Continuing Education and Extension (CACEE) can be submitted till February 15, Further details can be had from the centre at Ph: 0471-2302523.
