Two succumb to injuries

KOCHI, FEB. 10. A suicide and an accident death were reported from the Medical Trust Hospital here today. Sony Francis, 28, wife of Francis, Konduruthy, was brought to the hospital in the evening after she tried to burn herself by dousing herself with kerosene and setting afire. She died later around 7.30 p.m. She leaves behind a year-old son. In the other incident, which occurred in the morning at Kambaripady Junction, 80-year-old Madhavan of Moothedath House, Thykatukara, died in the hospital at 8.30 p.m. He was seriously injured when hit by a two-wheeler as he was walking.

Power supply disruption

There will be no power supply to Lakshmi Hospital, Paliyam Road and Palli Lane from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. because of maintenance in the 11 kV line.

Convocation

The 16th regional convocation of IGNOU will be held on March 5. Earlier the programme was scheduled on February 12. R.V. Perumal, Director, Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre, ISRO, Thiruvananthapuram, will be the chief guest at the function.
