Four held for missing luggage trolleys

NEW DELHI, FEB. 10 . The mystery behind the missing luggage trolleys at India Gandhi International Airport here has been solved by the South-West Delhi police. Four persons, including a sub-contractor, have been arrested in this connection and more than 1,500 trolleys and accessories have been recovered from them.

According to the police, the Vigilance Unit of the South-West Delhi police had received a tip-off about a truck carrying luggage trolleys stolen from the Airport. Following specific information, a trap was laid near Durga Dharam Kanta in Dabri around noon on Wednesday. The truck suspected to be carrying the stolen articles was intercepted and the driver, Sudama, and Satpal, a sub-contractor working on behalf of the main contractor at the Airport, were arrested from the spot. Four stolen trolleys were recovered from the truck, which too was seized. Two other accused, Babu Ram and Salimuddin, were arrested in subsequent raids. While Salimuddin, who worked for Satpal, was arrested from the Airport, Babu was arrested from his godown at Nasirpur in Dabri.

Interrogation of the accused revealed that Satpal had been sub-let the contract for collecting garbage from the Airport for the past six months. Salimuddin used to steal the luggage trolleys, one at a time, and take them to the garbage truck where they were hidden under the garbage.
