NEW DELHI, FEB. 10. A woman has been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police for allegedly being involved in a prostitution racket. The accused used to accept payment in dollars and has also visited foreign countries with her clients. The police had tracked down the mobile phone number of the kingpin of the racket from an advertisement in a leading English daily about girls available for friendship. He was contacted and a decoy was sent to strike a deal with him at a pre-selected place which happened to be a luxury hotel in the Capital. It was decided that the client would pay an advance after finalising the girl. The waiting police team arrested the woman when the deal was struck. Interrogation of the accused revealed that she had been accompanying clients to countries like Singapore, Hong Kong and Canada. The kingpin used to charge anywhere between 20 per cent and 40 per cent of the money collected by the woman. She used to take the money, often in US dollars, directly. The accused, who was preparing for a prestigious national level beauty contest, also revealed that the kingpin had recruited many girls for prostitution. He recruited them after an initial screening and did not disclose his whereabouts after that. He seldom met them and operated only through mobile phones. Further investigations are on to trace the kingpin.
