The director of Predicitive Homoeopathy, Prafull Vijaykar, with one of his patients, Diksha Bahiti, at a Press conference in New Delhi. Diksha Bahiti was cured of Stuerge-Weber Syndrome, a very high mortality disease.
NEW DELHI, FEB 10. This was one visitor Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said he was honoured to meet. A spastic by birth, 23-year-old Hussain of Santa Cruz, Mumbai met the Prime Minister this morning as he said wanted to meet a ``humble person dedicated to his job.'' Hussain is the first spastic to enrol to become a homeopathic doctor. According to his mother Fatima Jaitpurwala, ``My son has a never-say-die attitude which has brought him so far. It has been a long journey for us to make him so independent today that he can travel from our home in Santa Cruz by local trains to Virar, where he is a first year student at the Virar Homoeopathic College.'' He is able to move around on crutches. Talking to newspersons, Hussain said, "I was told by the Prime Minister that he was honoured to meet me as I had overcome so many disabilities and hurdles to try and become a professional. But what I have to say to the people is that never give up hope. I see so many perfect people just giving in to life's troubles so easily. They should see what people like me do and then they too will believe that anything is possible if one wills it so." Ms Fatima said that as a child Hussain was very slow and suffered all symptoms of spastics for which they sought both allopathic and homoeopathic treatment. "I would say it was a combination of the two sciences and Hussain's education which brought about this result. Recently he underwent a corrective surgery in his legs and as he was on homoeopathy, not one antibiotic drug was administered." "I believe, in the right hands, Homoeopathy can in fact work much better than allopathy in certain diseases and ailments. Hussain suffered for many years from skin ailments which were aggravated due to his condition but it was only after we took homeopathic treatment that he improved dramatically,'' she added. According to Mumbai-based homoeopath Dr Prafull Vijaykar, currently in town for a seminar "Hope for the Hopeless'' which will showcase success stories of homoeopathic treatment at Vigyan Bhavan, "Hussain's mother was a firm believer in the science of homeopathy which was proved right. However, in many cases it is only when allopathy fails that patients turn to this science." Talking about "Predictive Homoeopathy'', he said "If this very scientific form of medicine is followed according to its German founder Dr Samuel Hahnemann, it is foolproof. The key is, like Hahnemann said, that one has to treat the man in the disease and not the disease in the man. You have to take all parameters of a person when giving medication." He said no science is complete in itself and for the benefit of patients, allopathic doctors should come forward and give credit to other sciences too when they see it work. "I am not saying allopathy is rubbish, only that in certain diseases it has no cure like in case of asthma, diabetes, psoriasis, arthritis and even cancers. While several patients with these ailments have benefitted from homoeopathy sometimes like in the case of Hussain, taking both also helps a great deal." Talking of Hussain, he said: "This boy has already learnt a lot by just listening to doctors discussing his case. I'm sure he can teach a few things to his teachers at the Homoeopathic College in Virar.'' -- UNI
