Thumping win for SPIC

CHENNAI, FEB. 11. SPIC scored a thumping 191-run win over Districts Seniors in the Indian Bank - TNCA limited overs tournament here on Friday. Chasing SPIC's 311 for eight at the SPIC-YMCA ground, Districts Seniors was bundled out for 120.

For SPIC, Vishal R. Kudawla top-scored with 128 (127b, 16x4, 1x6). R. Tarun claimed three wickets with his off-spin (three for 51) and notched up 56 (59b, 6x4, 5x1) for the losing side. Sabarish Prabhu, with his medium pace, scalped four for SPIC.

State Bank, with E. Arun Kumar 119 (110b, 10x4, 1x6) and G. Venkatraman 110 (112b, 11x4) raising 220 for the second wicket in 30.1 overs, reached 356 for five against Sub-junior Colts at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. Then S. Thyagarajan picked up five for 20 as the Sub-junior Colts was dismissed for 107.

SICAL defeated Junior Colts by four wickets at the Viveka-SICAL ground. S.D. Murtoza notched up 63 (134b, 6x4) in an inadequate score of 158 for the Colt side. Then S.N. Selvakumar (64, 73b, 9x4) guided SICAL to victory.

SPIC 311 for eight in 50 overs (Vishal R. Kudawla 128, S.P. Vijayasarathy 51, Ra. Aravind 46) bt Districts Seniors 120 in 43.5 overs (R. Tarun 56, Sabarish Prabhu four for 35), at SPIC-YMCA. SPIC 5, Districts Seniors minus 1.

State Bank 356 for five in 50 overs (S. Ganesh Kumar 42, E. Arun Kumar 119, G. Venkatraman 110) bt Sub junior Colts (Div. V) 107 in 34.3 overs (S. Thyagarajan five for 20), at MAC. State Bank 5, Sub-junior Colts minus 1.

Junior Colts (Div 4 & 5) 158 in 49.1 overs (S.D. Mortoza 63) lost to SICAL 161 for six in 39 overs (S.N. Selvakumar 64), at Viveka-SICAL. SICAL 5, Junior Colts minus 1.
