PATHANAMTHITTA, FEB. 11. The 73rd feast of the Syrian Patriarch, St. Elias-III, was celebrated at the Manjanikara Diara Church today. A rousing reception was accorded to the pilgrimage processions from different parts of the State at the Mar Iganatius Diara this noon. Thousands of faithful congregated at Manjanikara to offer prayers at the saint's tomb today. The Catholicos Baselius Thomas-I and other bishops of the Malankara Jacobite Church, Kuriakos Mar Julious, Geevarghese Mar Divannaseus, Markose Mar Koorilos, Kuriakose Mar Theophelos, Youhanon Mar Peelexinos, Geevarghese Mar Polycarpus, Youhanon Mar Peelexinos, Mathews Mar Evaneos, Kuriakose Mar Dioscorus, Youhanon Mar Militheos and Kuriakose Mar Savarios were among those who offered prayers. The Catholicos presided over a public meeting held on the Diara premises in the evening. The Food and Civil Supplies Minister, Adoor Prakash, and all the bishops of the Church addressed the meet. The Catholicos will lead a tri-mass at the Diara Church at 8 a.m. tomorrow. The feast will come to a close with a Holy Rasa later.
