Kishanganga project talks inconclusive
By Gargi Parsai
NEW DELHI,
FEB. 11.
Talks between India and Pakistan on the Kishanganga hydropower project in Baramullah district of Jammu and Kashmir were inconclusive on the second day today. The Commissioner-level talks under the Permanent Indus Commission were originally scheduled to end today, but sources said they would continue on Saturday.
Describing the talks as ``focused,'' sources said that in the last round of talks held in Lahore last year there were 20 points and 10 issues under discussion.
The 330-MW Kishanganga project envisages inter-tributary transfer of waters of the Jhelum river and construction of a dam near Bandipur in Baramullah.
The project involves weekly re-routing of used waters in the Jhelum by India.
