Hindu Yuva Samavesha at Thokkottu tomorrow

By Our Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE, FEB. 11. The Ullal division of Hindu Yuva Sene will organise a Hindu Yuva Samavesha at Veer Savarkar Vedike, Ambedkar Maidan, Thokkottu, near here, on Sunday.

S.P. Chengappa, president of central committee of the organisation, told presspersons here on Friday that the organisation was formed with the intention of giving new direction to the community. The Sene, which has channelised youth from Hindu community of Ullal in various social and religious activities, has set up more than 20 units in the division.

Noting that the Sene was apolitical in nature and functioning, Mr. Chengappa said the organisation has its own goals and objectives.

The Samavesha, being organised as part of the decennial celebrations of the division, is an attempt at bringing youths of the community from the region together on a common platform and help them overcome parochial considerations.

Mr. Chengappa said the organisers expected at least 10,000 youth from various Hindu organisations to attend the convention.

He said the event will focus on the anti-Hindu bias of the Government in the State and at the Centre, problems posed by caste divisions within the community, cow slaughter and the problem of conversion. It will also address rampant superstition prevalent in the community.

The seers of Pejawar Mutt and Sandipini Sadhanashrama will deliver benedictions on the occasion. The president, Bhagawathi Thiya Samaj, Chandrahas Ullal will preside. The spokesperson, Hindu Yuva Sene, Udupi district, Vasudev Bhat, will deliver the key-note address.

A procession will be taken out from Kerebail Sri Nagabrahma Katte to the venue prior to the function.
