BANGALORE, FEB. 11. The police resorted to a mild lathi-charge to disperse a group of people, said to be fans of Shivaraj Kumar, when they turned violent at Chandrodaya cinema near Vidyapeet Circle on Friday. The police said they were protesting the cinema owner's decision to withdraw the screening of the Shivaraj Kumar-starrer, "Rishi." From the past four weeks, "Rishi" was being screened at the cinema, and a new release, "Ayya," starring Darshan Toogudeep, was to be screened from Friday. According to the police, the protestors threw stones at vehicles. The police resorted to a mild lathi-charge to disperse them. Following the protest, the screening of "Ayya" was postponed, the police said.
The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has convened a meeting to sort out the matter.
