One feared drowned as boat capsizes

FEB. 12.
One person was feared drowned as the country boat ferrying farm workers capsized in the Godavari near Bhupatiraopet village in Pinapaka mandal in the early hours of Saturday.
In all 37 persons were in the boat when the mishap occurred. A majority of them were Chhattisgarh tribals migrating to the area from the neighbouring pockets of Bastar. They all boarded the boat at Suraveedu ferry point. The boat capsized after hitting a rock formation in the riverbed. Except a youth, identified as Ramesh, all could swim to shore. Search is on for the missing youth. The police also reached the river point and engaged divers.
