ANANTAPUR, FEB. 12. Train no. 433 Bangalore-Guntur passenger train was detained for 80 minutes at Kallur railway station, 35 km from here on Saturday following a bomb hoax. According to railway officials, the train left Anantapur railway station at 14.37 hours and before it could reach Kallur at 15.12 hours, the Pamidi police station, a couple of km from Kallur, received a phone call from an unidentified person from Anantapur stating that a bomb had been planted on the train.
Passengers panic
An ASI and two constables, after informing their higher officers including the SP, went to the railway station and stopped the train. Passengers ran out of the train in panic as the police made an announcement. The police and railway staff checked the train thoroughly after the passengers alighted and found that the all was a hoax. After getting clearance from the police the train left Kallur station for its destination at 16.32 hours and the passengers and the railway officials heaved a sigh of relief.
