Sunni students' meet on Thursday

By Our Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE, FEB. 12. The Kinya unit of the Sunni Students' Federation is completing eight years of service to the community. The federation has organised a conference on Thursday to mark the occasion and to publicise the forthcoming conventions of two leading centres of Muslim religion and spirituality thought in India.

Abdul Hameed Bajpe, a member of the State committee of the federation, told presspersons here today that some vested interests are spreading canards about the Sunnath Jamaat. He said the federation has dedicated itself to creating public awareness on issues related to the jamaat along with other organisations.

Noting that the annual conventions of the two leading Muslim religious-spiritual schools in India — Sunni Markhaz at Karandur and Jamia Saadiya in Kasargod — will be organised shortly, he said the convention of the Kinya unit will be used to publicise the conventions of these schools. The Kinya event will also try to mould public opinion on issues pertaining to the jamaat.

Mr. Abdul said a leading name in the Muslim world, Tajul Ulema Ullal Thangal, and the general secretary of the All-India Sunni Ulema Federation, A.P. Abubackar Musliar, will participate in Thursday's event. S.M. Ustad Chembarik, Kotambara Abdurahman Darimi, Hussain Sakafi, and M.S.M. Zaini Kamil Sakafi, scholars, will also participate in the event, he added.
