Rupee recovers 7 paise

MUMBAI, FEB. 14. The rupee today rallied smartly against the U.S. currency on the back of robust foreign fund inflows into the booming stock markets amidst renewed dollar weakness overseas even as heavy dollar demand from public sector banks contained sharp gains.

In active two-way trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee closed at 43.75/76 a dollar, a steep seven paise recovery from last Friday's one-month closing low of 43.82/83, but lower from the peak of 43.64/65 struck during the course of trading. — PTI
