CHENNAI, FEB. 14. Reema Malhotra's all-round display (48 not out & four for 35) paved the way for Delhi's nine-run win over Tamil Nadu in the third place contest of the MNMJEC-sponsored senior National women's cricket championship at the KCA (Rajakilpakkam) ground here on Monday. Opting to bat, the fourth-wicket stand of 56 between Rajni Sharma (56, 71b, 8x4) and Reema (65b, 5x4) helped Delhi post 166 for seven in the allotted 50 overs. Tamil Nadu, which finished fourth in the last edition, failed to consolidate on the fine start of 69 provided by Thirushkamini (36) and Tejashree (35), as Delhi took control with its incisive bowling, backed by tight fielding. Leg-spinner Reema struck crucial bowls and was supported well by off-spinner Lalitha (two for 19). The three-day final between defending champion Indian Railways and Air-India begins at the SRMC ground on Tuesday. The first innings is restricted to 90 overs and the second innings to 45 overs.
