Arsenal steamrollers Crystal Palace

LONDON, FEB. 15. Thierry Henry claimed two goals and Dennis Bergkamp, Jose Antonio Reyes and Patrick Vieira also scored in Arsenal's 5-1 romp over London rival Crystal Palace on Monday.

The victory moved the defending champion to 11 points behind Premier League leader Chelsea — and two behind second-place Manchester United.

Palace held its own at Highbury until Arsenal scored three goals in seven minutes midway through the first half. It was probably the Gunners' best performance of the season, and one of Henry's best of his career.

Bergkamp threaded home a ball from short range in the 32nd minute, and Reyes drove in a left-footed shot from 18 metres in the 35th. Henry struck with a right-footed drive off the left wing in the 39th, again scoring from a sharp angle after several short, quick passes.

Vieira pushed the lead to 4-0 in the 54th. Palace's Andy Johnson scored on a penalty in the 63rd, before Henry scored his second in the 77th.
