HYDERABAD, FEB. 15. The State capital will be, for the first time, the venue of the 10th National Youth Festival being held from February 21 to 25. Over 3,000 delegates from all the States in the country will take part in cultural events to be held and put their best foot forward, competing with each other to walk away with the honours in events in 18 categories, the Tourism Minister, J. Geeta Reddy, said at a press conference here on Tuesday. As many as 250 stalls showcasing cultures and traditions of different States would come up at the People's Plaza on the Necklace Road, while adventure sports would be held at the Parade Grounds. The inaugural and valedictory functions would be held at the Lal Bahadur Stadium with the former in the presence of the Governor, Sushil Kumar Shinde, and the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. The Minister for Youth Affairs, T. Harish Rao, said the inaugural would see 30 youngsters performing a dance choreographed by Raghavaraj Bhatt to the tune of a national youth song composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal, an item where 200 folk artists would present 15 vibrant folk art forms and an instrumental ensemble by 50 musicians with Nagaraj (flute) and D. Srinivas (veena) composing the sequences. The highlight of the valedictory will be `Drums of India'and a 15-minute display of fireworks. These apart, there will be performances by prize-winners in Kuchipudi, Kathak, Odissi and Perini Shiva Thandavam dance forms.
