Naidu, Dattatreya asked to clarify Kola's charges

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, FEB. 15. The Congress Legislature Party has demanded that the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, and the BKJP leader, Bandaru Dattatreya, clarify the allegations levelled by Kola Krishna Mohan, that he had paid money to the two leaders.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, the Congress legislators asked the two leaders to come clean before an enquiry was ordered into the episode.

They said the TDP chief wanted to field Krishna Mohan, who was earlier arrested in connection with white-collar crimes, from the Machilipatnam parliamentary constituency after accepting party fund from him.

The CLP members wondered whether the BJP would initiate action against Mr. Dattatreya if the allegations were found to be true. The party had removed Bangaru Laxman as the president when Tehelka.com caught him on camera accepting money in a sting operation, they said.

The CLP members, Grandhi Srinivas, S. Udayabhanu, Anam Ramanarayan Reddy, Vatti Vasant Kumar, Sriranganatha Raju, Balaraju, E. Pratap Reddy and others were present.

TDP's denial

At a separate press conference, T. Devender Goud and N. Janardhan Reddy, deputy leaders of the Telugu Desam Legislature Party, and S. Maruthi, MLA, refuted Kola Krishna Mohan's charges.

"Our party has enough resources contributed by ordinary party workers. We do not have to depend on those booked in cheating cases," they said.
