ANANTAPUR, FEB. 15. About 8,000 candidates appeared for the selection of Home Guards in the excise and police departments here on Tuesday. The SP, R.S. Praveen Kumar, stated that the requirement was about 107 in the excise and about 30 in the police department. He said that about 200 constables would be recruited in the police department in the district next month under a special recruitment drive for naxalite-affected areas.
