PATHANAMTHITTA, FEB. 15. The Malankara Catholic Church has sought an apology from those who allegedly made ``attempts to malign the Church and its medical institution, Pushpagiri Medical College (PMC), by spreading baseless propaganda'' in connection with a cadaver kept at an exhibition stall of the college in Thiruvalla in January. Addressing a press conference at the Pushpagiri Medical Society headquarters in Thiruvalla this afternoon, the Bishop of Thiruvalla, Isaac Mar Cleemis, alleged that the ``malicious campaign was aimed at tarnishing the trustworthiness and reputation of the PMC, besides creating a divide between various Churches.'' Mar Cleemis alleged that the cadaver controversy was a politically-motivated one and those who were behind it had cut a sorry figure before the general public following the exhumation of the body at the church cemetery today.
