KANNUR, FEB. 15. The indefinite hunger strike by the Kottiyur grama panchayat president, K.J. Joseph, and the Kerala Congress (M) Koothuparamba constituency president, George Kutty Irumbukuzhi, in protest against the legal action initiated by the CPI(M)-ruled Kottiyur Service Co-operative Bank against a farmer, was called off today following talks between the protestors and bank officials. They started the strike in front of the bank branch at Kottiyur in the morning demanding steps by the bank to withdraw the case against Sebastian Oratheli, the farmer.
