LUCKNOW, FEB. 15. Both Houses of the Uttar Pradesh legislature were adjourned today following an uproar by Bahujan Samaj Party members over the murder of party MLA Raju Pal in Allahabad last month. While in the Assembly BSP legislators damaged chairs meant for in-house reporters, in the Council BSP members had to be marshalled out. Demanding a CBI probe into the murder, BSP members trooped into the well of the House demanding immediate consideration of the alleged harassment of Raju Pal's family by the police. The members also raised anti-government slogans and sat in the well. The question hour could not be held following the din. The Speaker, Mata Prasad Pandey, tried to persuade the members, saying they could speak on the issue during zero hour. Opposition leader and BJP legislature party leader Lalji Tandon also demanded that a discussion on law and order situation be taken up first. The Speaker said he would give a chance to the BJP, BSP and Congress in the discussion as they had given adjournment notices. Later, when pandemonium continued, the Speaker adjourned the House twice. When the House met in the evening, it was adjourned for the day following protests by the opposition. BSP members damaged chairs and broke the speakers attached with the sound system. - UNI.
