VISAKHAPATNAM, FEB. 15. The district Collector, Praveen Prakash, on Tuesday said that land owners would have to pay vacant land tax if they did not undertake construction. He surveyed Government lands in the city along with the Visakha-II MLA, S. Ranga Raju, the Joint Collector, Peeyush Kumar, and the Municipal Commissioner, N. Srikanth. The MLA sought construction of houses to 500 landless poor families near the Yatri Nivas area at MVP Colony and 600 houses for slum dwellers at Thatichetlapalem. Mr. Praveen Prakash said that houses would be constructed for them on vacant Government land adjacent to the Yatri Nivas and that ground plus three floor buildings would be constructed for hut dwellers at Thatichetlapalem.
