VIJAYAWADA, FEB. 15. A woman identified as Adilakshmi a daily wage earner of Prakasam district threw newborn twins into the Bandar Canal here on Tuesday afternoon. Eyewitnesses said the woman threw the babies from the bridge connecting American Hospital and Krishnalanka. A washerman, J. Madhu and his sister, Durga, who were washing clothes in the canal, saw the siblings (a baby boy and a baby girl) and ran to their rescue. The boy died of injuries, while the girl was rushed to a private hospital and later shifted her to the Government General Hospital . Sources in the Government Hospital said the condition of the one-day old baby, was critical.
