Kodela alleges bid to eliminate TDP leaders

By Our Staff Reporter

GUNTUR, FEB. 15. The Congress Government is hatching a plan to eliminate all prominent leaders of the Telugu Desam Party, the former Minister for Health, Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, alleged here on Tuesday.

At a press conference here, he said the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and his son Jaganmohan Reddy, were perpetrating a reign of terror in the State. "Linking my name to double shooter Moddu Srinivas, the killer of Paritala Ravindra, by Mr. Jaganmohan is part of this strategy to eliminate all powerful leaders gradually," he said.

`Poor security'

The Congress Government was not providing adequate security to him, though he was supposed to get Y-category protection. While he should be given five securitymen in the house and five others in the bullet-proof car with a driver, all the men were withdrawn from his house, he alleged. Only two securitymen were provided, he added. He had spoken to the Home Minister, Jana Reddy, and the Director General of Police about this, but no action was taken.

Frequent shuffling

He also took exception to the frequent change in the security personnel. "Why should the Congress leaders seek removal of a security personnel from the cordon of TDP leaders?" he asked. If the old personnel were around they could identify enemies better, he said.
