THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 15 . The Deputy Speaker, N. Sundaran Nadar, today appealed to the Government to take urgent measures to check sand- mining on the Neyyar riverbed. Highlighting the threat posed by sand-mining, he said that unauthorised extraction of sand from river banks and neighbouring sites at Pozhikara, Chalakara, Mavilakadavu, Kanhiramuttukadavu, Plavilamoola, and Amaravila had endangered several bridges and affected the stability of bunds and roads. Mr. Sundaran Nadar urged the district administration to revoke the licence issued for sand-mining.
