BANGALORE, FEB. 15. The Lokayukta Police on Tuesday unearthed a racket in candidates submitting fake and forged marks cards for teachers' posts in government primary and middle schools. According to a release from the Lokayukta, at the time of applying for the teacher's post, some candidates had submitted forged photocopies of their marks cards to the Selection Committee in 1997. After their selection, they had "won over the officials" who checked the photocopies with the originals. The officials had endorsed them as "verified and found correct," the release said. On a tip-off, the Lokayukta police of Bangalore Rural and Tumkur districts today raided the offices of the Deputy Director of Public Instruction in Tumkur and the Department of Education in Madhugiri town in Tumkur district and seized the fake and forged marks cards, degree certificates, internship certificates, etc., it said. Six teachers working in different schools in Tumkur and Mysore districts had allegedly got the jobs on the strength of the forged marks cards.
