BANGALORE, FEB. 15. A person reportedly tried to commit suicide, another hanged himself to death and a third died of an overdose of sleeping pills in the city on Monday. Revanna (49) of Pipeline Road in Cholurapalya in the Magadi Road Police Station limits allegedly hanged himself to death at his house. Revanna, an HAL employee, was said to be under the influence of liquor then. The cause for his act was not known, the police said. Suma (32) of Rajajinagar, who reportedly consumed sleeping pills on February 4, died at a private hospital on Monday. Suma, a postgraduate degree holder in Commerce, was unemployed. Raju (26) of Indiranagar in Basaveshwaranagar tried to commit suicide as he was not able to find a job. The police said he doused himself with kerosene and set himself on fire. A mobile police squad (Hoysala) shifted him to Victoria Hospital. His condition is said to be serious.
Arrested
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials here arrested a six-member gang which was preparing to assault its rivals in the Adugodi Police Station limits. The police said the arrested persons, Manja (20) and Anand (22), both of Mariyappanapalya, Lacchi (25) of Laggere, Sundar (21) and Venkatachalapathi (24) both of Gayatrinagar, and Asgar Khan (20) of Goripalya, were preparing to attack their rivals, Prasad and Jaggi, and rob them of valuables. The police seized lethal weapons from them.
Held
The CCB officials have arrested Rafiq (30) of Old Guddadahalli in J.P. Nagar and recovered from him 4.2 kg of ganja, valued at Rs. 20,000, while he was allegedly trying to sell it near his house.
