BANGALORE, FEB. 15. Nearly 300 university and college teachers, under the banner of the Federation of University and College Teachers' Associations in Karnataka, staged a demonstration in front of the Directorate of Collegiate Education here on Tuesday in support of their demands. The federation has urged the Government to come out with a clear policy on higher education, amend certain sections of the Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000 and pay the salary dues of the teachers. The Director of Collegiate Education met the teachers and promised them that he would take up their demands with the Government, a press release said. Teachers from Bangalore, Mysore, Gulbarga, Mangalore, Karnatak and Kuvempu universities and the colleges affiliated to these universities participated in the demonstration.
