BANGALORE, FEB. 15. A group of people, under the banner of Karunada Sene, on Tuesday staged demonstrations here in protest against the telecast of crime-based serials in Kannada television channels and the spread of live band joints in the city. The group said the telecast of such serials was having an adverse impact on the minds of people both in urban and rural areas. In the city, live bands were coming up in residential localities and their presence was causing problems to the people, they said. Besides, the "obscene dances", common in many live bands, were corrupting the minds of youngsters. The joints were also functioning as breeding grounds for criminals. The group staged the demonstrations near the Mahatma Gandhi statue, at the Police Commissioner's office and in front of the offices of Kannada television channels. The group submitted memorandums to the Police Commissioner, S. Mariswamy, and the managements of the television channels. Ki. Ram. Nagaraj, writer, and H.S. Doreswamy, freedom fighter, were among those who participated in the demonstrations.
