Agriculture Ministry expects higher allocation
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
FEB. 15.
The Agriculture Ministry expects a larger allocation in this year's budget for the irrigation sector.
Talking to reporters after inaugurating the Krishi Vigyan Mela of the Indian Agriculture Research Institute here today, the Union Agriculture Minister, Sharad Pawar, said the outlay for irrigation in the farm budget was 0.35 per cent of the budget, which was very low.
Ruling out the possibility of export subsidy for cotton growers despite a 30 per cent higher yield this year he said farmers needed to raise the per hectare yield to stay afloat in the international market.
