Another cloudy day forecast

NEW DELHI FEB. 15. Delhi is again expected to witness a generally cloudy sky on Wednesday with the weatherman also forecasting light rain or thundershowers accompanied with squall in some areas. The minimum temperature would be around 14 degrees Celsius.

While the maximum and the minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Tuesday were 22.4 degrees Celsius and 14.0 degrees Celsius, Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 23.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 14.3 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum and the minimum humidity at Safdarjung was 89 per cent and 61 per cent respectively, while Palam recorded a maximum humidity of 100 per cent and a minimum of 59 per cent.

The rainfall recorded at Safdarjung and Palam was 2.1 mm and trace respectively.

Elderly woman found dead

NEW DELHI FEB. 15. A 62-year-old woman was found dead under highly mysterious circumstances in her house at Bhajanpura in North-East Delhi on Monday night.

According to the police, the body of Kamal Abidi, wife of Zafar Hussain, a resident of C-Block Yamuna Vihar in Bhajanpura, was found lying on the floor by her son who had returned from Rohini after attending management classes late last night. There were injury marks on the head of the deceased.

Prizes distributed

NEW DELHI FEB. 15. The prize distribution ceremony for winners of the Thiruppavai, Thiruvembai and Thirupalliyezhuchi Poems Memory Recitation was organised by Delhi Tamil Sangam here this past Sunday.

The Assistant Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation, V. Sivaprakasam, the Tamil Nadu Tourism Officer, J. Nithyanandam, the former Principal of DTEA Senior Secondary School, Indubala, and the president of Delhi Tamil Sangam, G. Balachandhran, distributed the prizes and certificates to the winners.

Sports fiesta organised

NEW DELHI FEB. 15. The students of Pragyan School in Greater Noida participated with great enthusiasm in the "Sports and Cultural Fiesta" organised at the school this past week.

While the junior students participated in races, fun events and physical drills, the highlight was a horse riding display by senior students who overcame difficult obstacles.

Kanika Singh won the Satish Chand Memorial Award of Rs.10, 000 for the overall best entry in the "Fourth Pragyan On-The-Spot Painting Competition".
