Letters to the Editor
Sir, The U.S. intelligence report saying Pakistan will be a failed state by 2015 (Feb. 14) is yet another ploy of the American intelligence agencies to spread misinformation to promote their interests in the region. The U.S. has initiated the misinformation campaign to ensure that Pakistan continues to look to it for aid and economic assistance. It is well worth remembering that the U.S. intelligence in many earlier cases has been well off the mark, particularly in Iraq.
Lt. Col. (retd.) N.J.S. Sarna,
Sir, The prediction that Pakistan will be a failed state by 2015 is bad news not only for Pakistan but also for India. If Pakistan is affected by turmoil, its repercussions will be felt in India. A peaceful, democratic and developed Pakistan is what India needs at its borders.
A. Ashok Kumar,
