Ajay Dua to head commission on medical care

NEW DELHI, FEB. 16. Ajay Dua, Director-General of the Employees Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has been elected chairperson of the Commission on Medical Care and Sickness Insurance of the International Social Security Association (ISSA). He was elected to the post at the annual meeting of ISSA held in Geneva.

It is for the first time that a representative from a developing country has been elected chairperson of the commission, the main technical body of ISSA responsible for monitoring developments in the field of sickness insurance and medical cares worldwide, according to a release issued by the Ministry of Labour here today.

ISSA is an affiliate of the International Labour Organisation dedicated to the promotion and development of social security programmes globally. The association has over 380 social security organisations in 150 countries as its members. These include the Employees Provident Fund Organisation and the Employees State Insurance Corporation from India.
