DA merger: varsity teachers warn of direct action

HYDERABAD,
FEB.15.
The Andhra Pradesh Federation of University Teachers' Associations (APFUTA) has threatened to launch direct action to protest against the indifferent attitude of the State Government in extending the benefit of merging 50 per cent DA with the basic pay.
The APFUTA's executive committee, at its meeting held here on Monday, reviewed various long-pending problems of university teachers and unanimously decided to chalk out direct action programme involving all university teachers who were drawing UGC pay scales.
In a statement, the APFUTA chairman, B. Bucha Reddy, and other office- bearers, urged the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, to intervene immediately and avert direct action programme and ensure harmonious atmosphere in on university campuses.
