Mizoram holds Bengal

AIZAWL, FEB. 16. Defending champion West Bengal was held to a goalless draw by host Mizoram in the inaugural match of the National junior football championship here today.

In the second match, Maharashtra beat Tamil Nadu 2-0.

Eight teams — West Bengal, Mizoram, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Manipur and Uttaranchal are taking part in the championship.

The teams will play in two groups in league format in the first round and the group winner and runner-up will make it to the semifinals. The final will be played on February 26. — PTI
