NEW DELHI, FEB. 16. Rajan Chadha, with 70 nett won the North and East zone regional golf tournament for Mercedes Trophy at the DLF Golf and Country Club here. Shakti Dogra came a close second with 70.4 nett, in the 0-15 handicap category. In the 16-19-handicap category, Mukul Bahri (72) took the honours while Kiran Jit Singh finished runner-up. Vimal K. Kaushik (72) won the 20-24-handicap section with Ajay Dhawan (72.2) in the second place. The tournament was played under the internationally accepted double Peoria system, which calculates fresh handicaps for players based on their performance on the course on that particular day. The six will participate in the India final of the Mercedes Trophy to be held in Pune on March 12. The winners of each handicap category will form the Indian team for the World finals to be held in Stuttgart, Germany from September 22 to 27. In 2004, Indian team finished a credible joint fourth with Australia.
