Orders today on lawyer's bail plea

By Our Staff Reporter

KANCHEEPURAM, FEB. 16. The Principal District Judge, Chengalpattu, G.M. Akbar Ali, today reserved for tomorrow orders on the anticipatory bail application by advocate Nadira Banu, against whom Ravi Subramnaiam, accused-turned-approver in the Sankararaman murder case, lodged a complaint with the Kancheepuram judicial magistrate-I.

Counsel Abdul Hakeem said his client apprehended arrest anytime once the magistrate forwarded the complaint to the Superintendent of Police or any other higher official. The public prosecutor, K. Arumugam, said the question of granting anticipatory bail did not arise as no case had been filed.

Ravi Subramaniam, in his complaint, alleged that advocates Nadira Banu and Revathi threatened him in the sub-jail here and that they offered him a huge amount to turn against the police in the murder case.

The principal district judge dismissed the bail applications moved on behalf of Sekar and Devaraj, accused in the murder case.
