MADURAI, FEB.16. Three persons were sentenced to life imprisonment by a Madurai court today. According to the prosecution, Chandran and his friends, Saravanan and Soundaram, of Melur, murdered Batcha of the same area on January 21, 2001, following a family dispute. They hacked the victim to death and buried his body in a field. Based on a complaint lodged by the local village administrative officer, the Melur police exhumed the body. The second fast track court judge, V. Venkadasamy, who heard the case, sentenced the trio to life imprisonment.
