Awareness campaigns

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 16. The Health Department is organising awareness campaigns in schools across the State to help prevent the spread of jaundice.

Schoolchildren will read out a pledge to spread awareness about jaundice among the public. Questionnaires on jaundice will also be distributed among students. The Finance Minister, Vakkom Purushothaman, will inaugurate the programme in the district.

Festival area

The district authorities have declared Chellamangalam, Kariyam, Manackal, Powdikonam, Keraladityapuram, Kanjickal, and Malapparikonam areas in Sreekaryam panchayat as festival area till February 23 in view of the annual festival at Chellamangalam temple. The areas in the vicinity of the Amaravila Neerakathala Sree Bhadrakali temple have been notified as festival area in view of the annual festival at the temple.

AIYF protest

More than 20 AIYF workers blocked the Chalakuzhy Road on Wednesday demanding that the laying of pipelines along the stretch be completed at the earliest. The CPI local committee secretary, K.S. Balan, led the protest.
