In the first case, 50-year-old Puran Bhan was killed and a woman sustained minor injuries when a G.D. Goenka School bus -- bearing Haryana registration number -- hit them at Vasant Vihar this morning. The incident occurred when the bus was on its way to pick up students from their home. The police said Puran Bhan, who lived in the CPWD Colony and worked in the Union Public Service Commission as a computer data operator, died on the spot. The bus driver, Devender Prasad, has been arrested.

A IIIrd year history student of Ram Lal Anand College was killed and his classmate injured when the motorcycle they were moving on hit the central verge near Springdales School at Nanakpura around 1 p.m. According to the police, Dibyajyoti, a resident of Civil Lines, was taking a U-turn when he hit the central verge, fell on the road and sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

In yet another accident, a 30-year-old man, identified as Alok David Tuli, was killed after a Blueline bus -- plying on route No. 558 -- hit his motorcycle at Moti Bagh around 12-30 p.m. Alok, who worked as a supervisor with Bristol Hotel at Gurgaon in Haryana, died on the spot. Angered over the incident, area residents and passersby gathered there and began pelting stones at the bus. They also attempted to set the vehicle on fire and had even burnt some of its seats when the police arrived there and somehow dispersed the mob.

A case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving was registered and the bus driver, Rattan Lal, arrested. In an accident reported from Delhi Cantonment around 5 p.m. this Wednesday, a labourer was killed and the driver and helper of a tempo were injured when the vehicle coming from Gurgaon overturned allegedly due to rash driving. The deceased has been identified as Sameer.
